We want this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other assistive technology. Some of the specific things built into this site:

  • Semantic HTML structure with a logical heading order on every page
  • A "skip to content" link for keyboard users
  • Visible focus outlines on links, buttons, and form fields
  • Form fields with real, associated labels and clear error messaging
  • A mobile menu that works with keyboard and touch, and can be closed with the Escape key
  • Sufficient color contrast between text and backgrounds
  • Meaningful alt text on photos, and empty alt text on purely decorative images
  • Support for reduced-motion preferences
  • A responsive layout designed to work well on phones, tablets, and desktops
